EIF’s private equity secondary market transactions

The secondary sale of single or portfolios of private equity funds is a new activity for the EIF. Through this we aim to:

  • manage the portfolio of private equity funds
  • increase the liquidity in the market

Are you eligible as an investor?

You are eligible to buy our portfolios of fund interests if you are a public or private body or firm operating in the secondary market. For details on the criteria set by the EIF to select one or more financial intermediaries please refer to the EAST-16 and WEST-16 portfolios application documents below.

What is “West-16”?

West-16 is a portfolio of fund interests in European venture capital and private equity funds. The portfolio comprises of 6-10 funds with an aggregated Net Asset Value in the range of EUR 7m to EUR 10m (represented mostly by venture capital funds), of vintages 1999 - 2002 with a general focus on SMEs based in the EU.

What is “East-16”?

East-16 is a portfolio of fund interests in European venture capital and private equity funds including two sub-portfolios. The portfolio comprises of 10-20 funds with an aggregated Net Asset Value in the range of EUR 100m to EUR 200m (represented by venture capital and mid-market private equity funds), of vintages 2008 and older with a general focus on SMEs based in the EU.
